I heard wireless was NOT reliable. Is this true?

This questions gets asked a lot! The technology we use for delivering high quality services to your household is NOT the same type of wireless you can buy from Best Buy, Staples, Walmart, etc. We use carrier grade wireless technology which is engineered for the maximum amount of up-time and can automatically adapt itself to accommodate for weather or other changing environmental aspects. This is not like a cell phone with spotty coverage, this is not like a cheap wireless router from Best Buy, this is not your dad’s old wireless!

Do I have to buy any equipment?

To get your services up and running you do NOT have to buy anything from us. You will need a few items: a computer, and if you want to be wireless in your home you need to get a wireless router for your household or buy one from us. Please contact us at [email protected] for recommended routers.

Do I get any E-mail addresses?

YES! You can have as many email addresses as you like. We give out email addresses that end with @datamaxemail.com. Signup for your free email address now, go to www.datamaxemail.com.
Do you provide WiFi or HotSpots?

Our technology is different from WiFi or Hotspots that you would connect your devices to at a public location or coffee shop. We use carrier grade wireless technologies to get the services to your household or business. Data-Max does offer Managed Wireless solutions for connecting wireless devices such as phones, tablets, PCs, and more to our carrier grade backhaul. For more information please contact Data-Max Sales.
What is WiMax, anyway?

WiMax is a 4G wireless technology! WiMax is a carrier grade technology which is fast, reliable, and always on! WiMax technology provides customers with the best internet service possible!
If WiMax is wireless, can I use my laptop's WiFi? Why do I have to have your subscriber unit?

Stated above, WiMax is a carrier grade technology that maintains high speed broadband connections. Because this signal is encrypted for security and offers such high bandwidth abilities, a subscriber unit is needed to decrypt the signal from our towers. If you would like to use your laptop, you can purchase a wireless router from Data-Max Wireless or any local retailer (Data-Max recommends Netgear or DLinkwireless equipment).
Do I need a phone line or cable?

Not at all! WiMax runs on our new-generation subscriber units. No phone or cable TV lines are necessary, our Qualified Technicians will come to your residence or business to install the subscriber unit for you.
What items do I get support for?

Our Data-Max Wireless or Wecom, Inc. technicians would be glad to assist you with any issues regarding the installation or moving of your WiMax Subscriber Unit, and any service disruptions. Business service plans receive an SLA (service level agreement) and 24/7/365 monitoring.
Who is Data-Max, and who is Wecom?

Wecom, Inc. has been in business for over 50 years, catering to Mohave County’s two-way radio communications, broadcast television and communications tower needs. Wecom, Inc. has grown to provide enterprise carrier-grade microwave backhaul, fiber access, private WAN, and internet access to large hospitals, schools, clinics and business throughout Arizona (visit www.wecominc.com). Data-Max Wireless, in partnership with Wecom, Inc., has geared up to provide residential and business services (internet, telephony, point to point, and more) throughout Mohave County (see updated coverage areas). Wecom, Inc. provides the backhaul, towers, direct internet connection, and partners on the support for Data-Max Wireless.
What do you mean by "24/7/365 Monitoring" on the Business Package?

We monitor statistics on all of our mission-critical communications links. Our monitoring system is prominently displayed in our Network Operations Center and sends alerts to all of our technicians when traffic or signal trends change. By receiving this information, we can proactively stabilize your link before a possible outage occurs. It also gives us the ability to have extremely fast support response times and make sure your business receives the maximum up time!
Do your subscriber stations do any routing, have LAN ports, or relay wireless to my laptop or desktop?

Our Subscriber Units have a single ethernet cable coming from the back of the unit into your home or business. This cable can then plug into your wired or wireless router to provide internet access to all of your computers. If you have a single hardwired computer, the Subscriber Unit can connect directly to it. Please contact us at [email protected] for recommended routers, including wireless routers, which can be purchased directly from us or from any local retailer such as Staples. Our units are grounded and shielded cable is used to protect from lightning damage.
Do you have NAT limitations, such as blocking ports or services?

In most circumstances, customers will experience no NAT errors between our subscriber unit and Internet drain. Any configurations and port forwards may be set in your router. If you experience a NAT error or are having difficulty forwarding ports, please contact Data-Max Wireless Support. Please note that hosting commercial services such as websites on residential packages is strictly prohibited and against your Terms of Service. Commercial services may only exist on business packages.
Are there any bandwidth limits for heavy use or online gaming?

We can proudly say no, there are no bandwidth limitations on your WiMax service. You can connect your PCs or game consoles in confidence to our low-latency high speed network. Please note that hosting commercial services such as websites on residential packages is strictly prohibited and against your Terms of Service. Commercial services may only exist on business packages.
